simpledu is excited to share an opening on our team for a Software Engineer! To learn more about us, check out our company story below. The Software Engineer is responsible for the development and deployment of innovative software to enhance and support K-12 education.
This position is “remote” and not located at a physical office. Candidates in the Greenville, South Carolina metropolitan area are preferred, but not required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities
- Develop and build software for web applications in a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, utilizing standard software development lifecycle processes (50%)
- Assist implementing new customers and supporting existing customers (30%)
- Research and advise on future product features; product roadmap direction, priorities, and implementation (20%)
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience with web development and understanding of fundamental web technologies including, but not limited to: HTTP, SSL, JavaScript/jQuery, JSON, REST/REST APIs, HTML and CSS
- Preferred experience with PHP and Python
- Experience with relational database technologies (SQL)
- Preferred experience with MySQL, caching systems including Redis
- Experience with version control systems, including Git, (preferably GitHub) software development lifecycle, and software change management in a fast paced, incremental, Agile engineering environment
- Commitment to data security and privacy, with an understanding of (or willingness to learn) FERPA compliance requirements
- Experience with cloud computing and cloud service providers, preferred experience in Google Cloud Platform
- Preferred experience in K-12 education, including K-12 student information systems (PowerSchool, Infinite Campus)
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field — or solid, relevant experience that shows you can do the job.

Anticipated Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 annually
This is the anticipated salary range and is negotiable based upon prior experience, knowledge, and skills.
